Welcome Cherry Jones and the Eyes of Tammy Faye

Cherry Jones as Rachel Grover, (mother of Tammy Faye Bakker) in The Eyes of Tammy Faye

Welcome spring and welcome to a great way to support our neighborhood’s blooming centerpiece, the Historic Atkins-Porter Neighborhood Botanical Garden at 311 Jackson Street.

On Tuesday, April 26, actress Cherry Jones will be returning home to Paris to help HAPNA’s botanical garden. The event is a screening of The Eyes of Tammy Faye in which Cherry plays Tammy Faye’s mother. Cherry will do a moderated Q & A with at the end of the film with Mike Wilson, emcee. Tickets are $25 for the movie and Q & A.

A second tier of only 25 tickets are set aside for a Meet and Greet which includes wine and hors d’oeuvres with the actress prior to the movie, along with selfies, autographs, an event poster and preferential seating.

The event is located at the Parisian Theatre on Jim Adam’s Drive. Tickets may be purchased on EventBrite.com and at RE/MAX Cornerstone Real Estate on Locust Street in Paris. Event sponsors include the Parisian Theatre, RE/MAX Cornerstone Real Estate and Susan Jones Public Relations.

Why did Cherry Jones want to help support a botanical garden in Paris, TN? “Because it’s near and dear to my heart!” says the actress. “I walked or road my bike down Jackson Street to Atkins-Porter School all through elementary school at AP. This neighborhood holds fond memories for me, plus, it’s historic and filled with gorgeous trees, birds and wonderful people.”

Nostalgia aside, the actress, who resides in New York City, says that “no one understands the value of lovely public spaces like someone who lives with more than eight million people. I encourage you to have lunch, read a book or come spend some time sketching or photographing in garden this spring,” she says. “And I look forward to seeing you at the Parisian Theatre on Tuesday evening, April 26.”
