Mother’s Day Saturday Yard Sale in Atkins Porter Neighborhood

Saturday, May 13

7:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Enjoy finding treasures at multiple yard sales in the Historic Atkins-Porter Neighborhood. Hours may vary.

New this year, ALL purchases from 501 Dunlap Street sale will be matched 100% to support HAPNA projects. Maps available at this location. Sale is rain or shine.

Summer Kayaking with HAPNA

Second Saturdays, June-August, 9:00 AM

Enjoy a morning of paddling on nearby waterways with neighborhood guides. Join us for 9:00 AM departure from the Atkins-Porter Rec Center parking lot, corner of Walnut and S. Highland. Bring your kayak/canoe, transportation, lifejackets, water and snacks. Attendees must sign waiver. This event has no rain date.

Library Children’s Story Hour:

Mondays in June and mid-July through early autumn, 10:30 AM

Join the talented Kayla Nation, W.G. Rhea Public Library’s Youth Librarian, as she shares terrific stories, crafts and more under the pavilion at the HAPNA Botanical Garden, 311 Jackson.

Watchable Wildlife with Ranger Joan:

Thursdays in June, 10:30 AM

From birds to mammals, and fish to insects, children love critters! Discover more about our area’s watchable wildlife with TN National Wildlife Refuge Ranger Joan Howe. Meet under the shade of the pavilion at the HAPNA Botanical Garden, 311 Jackson.

Atkins-Porter Food Trucks and Tunes

Sunday, October 1, 1:00-4:00 PM

Join us for this free, inaugural event as HAPNA welcomes the talented Fajita Brothers to the stage on the lawn of the former Atkins-Porter School, corner of Walnut and S. Highland. Bring a chair or blanket and money for food and tips.

In case of inclement weather, the music will move inside AP Rec Center.

Howl-OWeen Costume Contest:

Second Annual Scarecrow Classic:

Grab your costumes (or just your running clothes) for the Atkins-Porter Scarecrow Classic 5K Run/Walk. Proceeds benefit your Historic Atkins-Porter Neighborhood Association.

Atkins-Porter Neighborhood Gift of Light

Evenings, December 10 – 31

Many neighbors deck their homes and lawns for your enjoyment during HAPNA’S GIFT OF LIGHT! Drive or stroll through the neighborhood and enjoy the colorful lights, inflatables and even music. Several of these homes will win one of the coveted, BPU Awards for HAPNA’s Annual Lighting Contest.

Judging and Awards Presentation for HAPNA Lighting Contest

Evenings, December 16 and 17

Christmas light judging is December 16, with awards presented on December 17 by our sponsor, Board of Public Utilities! All homes with lights will be considered. No need to enter. Good luck and thank you to all who decorate their homes for HAPNA’s Gift of Light.
