Historic Atkins Porter Neighborhood Association

The Historic Atkins-Porter Neighborhood Association is dedicated to preserving the history, integrity, safety and sense of community of the Atkins-Porter neighborhood. The group holds monthly meetings at the botanical garden, 311 Jackson St. on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm.

April 9 – It’s time to spruce up the neighborhood! Join the Spring Litter Pick Up with help from our friends at Keep Paris/HC Beautiful and TDOT! Download the sign-up page here!

April 26 – An Evening with Cherry Jones and “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” at the Parisian Theatre in support of the HAPNA Botanical Garden. Find out more here

May 7 – Whether you enjoy hosting a yard sale or shopping, the HAPNA Neighborhood Yard Sale is your day! Held annually on the Saturday before Mother’s Day, you’ll score plenty of great finds as you walk the shady sidewalks of the AP neighborhood.

June – July – Bring those little ones to the HAPNA Botanical Garden at 311 Jackson Street at 10 A.M. each Tuesday for story hour with Kayla Nation of the W.G. Rhea Public Library.

June – This neighborhood LOVES TREES, so bring the kiddos to the HAPNA Botanical Garden at 10 A.M. on Thursdays in June for “Tree Talk” with TN Natl. Wildlife Refuge Ranger Joan Howe and friends.

July 16 – Cool down with a little ice cream at our Ice Cream Social in the Garden. Friendly donation suggested. Details to come.

June – September – Meet at the AP Rec Center/Dog Park on South Highland Street for a morning of kayaking. More details to come on this monthly, Saturday event.

October 29 – Grab your costumes for a Halloween Run/Walk to benefit your Historic Atkins-Porter Neighborhood Association. More info soon.

November 5 – Fall Litter Pickup in the Neighborhood. You bring the gloves, we’ll have the rest!

Thanksgiving – New Year’s Day – Join your friends and family at the botanical garden and bask in the glow of thousands of Christmas lights! Friendly tip – This is a great place to take photos for your family Christmas cards!

December 10 – The GIFT OF LIGHT begins in the HAPNA neighborhood! Drive through and try to decide who will win the coveted BPU trophies for HAPNA’s Annual Lighting Contest. Judging happens tonight!

December 11 – Annual Holiday Lighting Contest awards present by our sponsor, Board of Public Utilities!
